Objective: The objective is to make the students study and understand basic principles of combustion and chemical kinetics. PRINCIPLES OF COMBUSTION: Chemical composition –Flue gas analysis –dew point of products –StoichiometryStoichiometryrelations, theoretical air required for complete combustion, Chemical kinetics –Rate of reaction –Reaction order –Molecularity –Zeroth, first, second and third order reactions -complex reactions –chain reactions. THERMODYNAMICS OF COMBUSTION

Objective: The objective is to make the students study thermodynamics of combustion process and calculate adiabatic flame temperature.THERMODYNAMICS OF COMBUSTION: Enthalpy of formation –Heating value of fuel –Heat of reaction-Heat of combustionμrp, μhp-determination of heating value of fuels(LCV,HCV)-Combustion reaction Temperature –chemical equilibrium, Equilibrium composition of gaseous mixtures. Objective: The objective is to study flame propagation, factors effecting the flame propagation of various kinds of fuels. LAMINAR AND TURBULENT FLAMES PROPAGATION AND STRUCTURE: Flame stability –Burning velocity of fuels –Measurement of burning velocity –factors affecting the burning velocity.Flame Propagation -Solid, Liquid & Gaseous Fuels Combustion -Flame Temperature -Theoretical, Adiabatic & Actual -Ignition Limits -Limits of Inflammability.
